Tearful Scene from Srebrenica as a Warning in the Center of Sarajevo

Nermine, dođi 2The BH artist and sculptor Mensud Kečo revealed yesterday in the center of Sarajevo a sculpture dedicated to the genocide in Srebrenica.

It is the sculpture ‘’Nermine, dođi’’, made of concrete, reinforcement bars, plastic and silicon, which represents the most distressing documented photograph from Srebrenica to the artist.

‘’The father is calling his own child practically under the knife with a tiny glimmer of hope that he will stay alive. I wanted to do something for the 20th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica and it simply started on itself, because I could not just not do it’’, said Kečo adding that the sculpture represents his artistic and emotional maximum.

‘’I hope this work will be understood by the citizens of Sarajevo and people who see it and that they will understand the message. I am thankful that I have installed it in line with the Memorial to the children of Sarajevo, because I think that is the point-a man calling his child’’, said Kečo whose work will be, after the capital of B&H, transferred to the Museum of Srebrenica in Potočari as part of the permanent exhibition.

The remains of Ramo Osmanović and his son Nermin were found in 2008 in a mass grave not far from Srebrenica.
