Until December 2018, according to the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Spain invested 28.4 million BAM in Bosnia and Herzegovina, representing a 0.2% share in total investments.

This amount of investment is mostly registered in the trade. Director of the Agency for Foreign Investment Promotion of BiH (FIPA) Gordan Milinic received the newly appointed Ambassador of BiH to Spain Danka Savic with the aim to get acquainted with the trends of foreign investments in BiH and the current economic cooperation between the two countries with a focus on Spain’s investments in BiH.

FIPA’s experience so far, in cooperation with potential investors from Spain, indicates that they were mainly interested in the automotive industry, where cooperation with BiH companies was established, and in the production of solar energy.

It has been stated that Spanish investments are at a very low level, and that a way should be found to attract new investors from this country, which FIPA and the ambassador will work on.

It was pointed out that the BiH Foreign Trade Chamber, in cooperation with the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade and Investment (ICEX) and with the support of the Spanish Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, will hold a Business Forum Bosnia and Herzegovina – Spain on the topic “Experiences and future challenges in the development of railway transport ” on October 3rdthis year.
