Senad Bašić – star of a new film

filmFamous BiH actor, who played Faruk in the most famous BiH sitcom, Senad Bašić is the star of the film produced by Frank Celarc, Miroslav Mandić and Ida Weiss.

The film talks about Toni Riff, a Bosnian rock star back in the 1980’s, came to Slovenia during the war and married his fan Sonia. He has been inactive for the past two decades, relying on his wife to support them. To Toni’s annoyance and fits of jealousy, Sonia works as a phone-sex operator. One of her regular clients is a hotel owner Max, an avid fan of the 80’s New Wave. He offers to organize a come-back concert for the former star. Upon arrival to the hotel, shocked by the concert announcement, Toni hides in a room called after him. Sonia begs him to play, believing a concert is the only way out of his depression.

Director’s note:

During the last two decades a number of films dealt with Bosnian and Croatian wars, exposing deaths, rapes and other atrocities. However, there are numerous casualties of war that noone ever spoke about – disgusted by what was happening around them, many people gave up on whatever creative and relevant they have been doing prior to the war. They switched off and buried themselves into superficial, mechanical activities, just to get by. Disillusioned, depressed, and basically vegetating. Through the story of a post war rocker who lost all ambition, ‘Adria Blues’ is an attempt to speak of those people and in their name.
