On May 12 this year, members of the Armed Forces of BiH Nermin Husanović, Džemo Bešić and Emir Suljić saved a woman from the overflowing Jala River after her car drove off the road. Thanks to a courageous intervention, readiness, soberness and training, they managed to get the woman out of the car and provide first aid until the arrival of emergency services and police.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Boris Jerinić praised the members of Armed Forces of BiH for the demonstrated selfless courage and professionalism, saying that they have shown humanity and readiness of the members of Armed Forces of BiH to help civilians in every occasion, which is one of the missions and tasks of the Armed Forces of BiH.

“This is a special day, a day when I can greet you in my own name and on behalf of the Minister Pendeš. What you gave to the Ministry of Defense of BiH and the Armed Forces of BiH with your act is pride, and we must not forget such ventures. With this act, you have proven that the Armed Forces of BiH are at the disposal for the citizens of BiH at any time,” Jerinić said.

The newly appointed Deputy Minister of Defense Sead Jusić expressed satisfaction with being able to say how honored he is to be a part of one such venture for the first time as the deputy minister, highlighting that soldier’s job is „one of the topmost jobs, including conscious risking of life while performing duties“, adding that he believes that these soldiers will be an example to young people.

Mayor of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of BiH Lieutenant General Anto Jeleč said he is very proud of these soldiers, as well as of all members of the Armed Forces of BiH who perform their duty professionally, paying attention to the fulfillment of the mission of the Armed Forces of BiH in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Soldiers Nermin Husanović, Džemo Bešić and Emir Suljić humbly pointed out that this act was their duty and that every member of the Armed Forces of BiH would do the same.

“Readiness, training and professionalism while helping civilians is a trait and duty of all members of the Armed Forces of BiH,” stated these courageous soldiers.

As a sign of gratitude, presents and letters of gratitude were handed over to the soldiers, and financial rewards are also going to be handed over to them for the courage they have demonstrated.
