This year’s summer tour of Operation Kino has finished successfully. With the last projection on Tuesday evening in Livno, the traveling Kino Sarajevo Film Festival has completed its journey through five BiH cities. In addition to Livno, the public in Gornji Vakuf-Uskoplje, Bosanska Krupa, Ravno and Trebinje saw the excellent film achievements.
During the three-day program in five cities, from the period 17 June-2 July, more than 2.000 people visited the film program. In makeshift theaters in the open, the public had the opportunity to see the films: Prince Avalanche, Blancanieves, and Najbolja Ponuda (best offer).
“The great audience, successful projections in the open, fantastic atmosphere and reception of locals in all five cities, were the characteristic of this year’s Operation Kino tour’’, said the organizers. They thanked the warm reception of the public, as well as for the wonderful company and their cooperation during the realization of the program.
Operation Kino is a film-educational program that Sarajevo Film Festival is realizing in cooperation with Transylvania International Film Festival, Sofia International Film Festival and Istanbul International Festival, and with the support of MEDIA Mundus EU and Norwegian Embassy in Sarajevo.
The program varies from country to country, place to place, but the basics remain the same: a quality program and festival experience of watching films becomes a guarantee of a return of the audience to quality films in cinemas and summer cinemas outside days of festivals and cities that typically have festivals.
The program emerged with the goal to develop the film industry in BiH and to enable easier access of films in BiH, which has as the final goal a return to the cinema as part of every day life. In this way, Operation Kino includes cinema in a way that is going towards meeting its public and strives to act in areas where the audiovisual content is on the big screen, which has so far been underexposed.
