The best BH athlete Amel Tuka did not achieve results in 2016 similar to those in 2015, and he said that he will remember the previous year after doping controls.
In December, for the 12th time in 2016, the Anti-Doping Agency knocked on the doors of our BH athletes asking him for samples of urine and blood. Although it is a little unusual, Tuka says that he understands their frequent visits, but it is annoying when they come early in the morning.
“It’s all part of the sport and we should let those people to do their job. I just wish if other athletes would have the same treatment as me, because I fully support their work.”
Although he worked hard in the previous year and had a great motive from 2015, his form was not at the highest level.
“I ran the best time of last season in Brussels in the race on 800 meters with time 1: 44.54 and I secured 18th place on the world list of the best times of the year and the fifth best time in Europe this year.”
After all these results and the necessary analysis, Amel Tuka entered the new season with much higher goals and desire to repeat the results from 2015.
“I think that the coach knows my body now a lot better, which is why I am optimistic and I’m looking forward to be on the track again. Now I’m getting ready for the winter part of the season, where I expect the races in the hall. I will be appearing on the Championship of the Balkans in the hall and of course the European Championship in Belgrade, which will be held from the 3rd to 5th of March. I’ll try to run the best possible result and to run in the final of the European Championships, because that would be a great success for me. I’m not a fan of running indoors, but we will try,” concluded Tuka.
In the summer part of the season, our athlete and his coach will be devoted to the World Championships in London and races of the Diamond League. This year, his wish is to be healthy and to achieve better results, but above all to become a better man.
