Students of Masters and PhD studies from numerous countries from all around the world, a total of 26 of them, gathered at the 12th International Summer School – Sarajevo 2018, and they will have the opportunity to learn about transitional justice in post-conflict societies during the following 11 days.
At the opening ceremony of the school named “Role of Transition Justice in Raising Awareness about Human Rights and the Rule of Law in Post-Conflict Societies”, was announced that several experts will talk about this topic and some of the speakers are Doris Pack, Eibe Riedel, Marijana Toma, Marion Carrin and Milos Bogicevic.
Almin Skrijelj, the President of the Association “Pravnik (Lawyer)”, which is the organizer of this summer school, noted that their main aim is to introduce young lawyers with the transitional justice, which is still current in the region due to everything that happened in 1990’s.
Participants will have the opportunity to meet different people from BiH during the summer school, and they will visit Herzegovina and places where civilians were killed in Prijedor as well as the concentration camp Omarska.
The International Summer School Sarajevo 2018 is dealing with research of the term of transitional justice, which includes an institutional response to challenges of transition and the past, and they represent one of the largest challenges of BiH and regional countries.
This year, a total of 26 students came from Albania, Belgium, BiH, Canada, Croatia, Hungary, Germany, Italy, Macedonia, the Netherlands, Romania, Serbia, Spain, South Korea, Turkey, United Kingdom, the USA, Ukraine, Russia and Switzerland.
