The Central Election Commission (CEC) of BiH should announce the general elections on May 8, and it will be known then whether the general elections will be held on Sunday, October 7.
In the upcoming elections, the citizens of BiH will elect members of the Presidency of BiH, deputies in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH and the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the FBiH, deputies in the National Assembly of the RS, the president and vice-presidents of the RS and members of the 10 cantonal assemblies in the FBiH.
A total of 518 mandate holders will be elected in this year’s general elections in BiH, and 3,278,908 persons were on the Central Electoral Register (CBS) in the last general elections that were held in 2014. Out of that number, 2.037.076 voters were in the FBiH and 1.241.832 in the RS.
It is interesting that there were 3,263,906 voters at the CBS municipal elections. Moreover, from the date of the announcement of the elections in BiH, i.e. from the next week, certain deadlines that refer to the obligations and deadlines for submitting applications for the participation in the elections will start, as well as the process of checking the submitted applications, lists and candidates.
Considering the large interest in the CEC seminar on these deadlines, which was attended by more than 70 representatives of political parties, we can expect a large number of parties to take part in the election process, as it was the case in 2014, when a total of 98 parties, coalitions and independent candidates took part in the elections.
Around 8,5 million BAM will be allocated from the budget of BiH for the realization of this year’s general elections, of which about 4 million BAM are planned for compensations to the polling boards, and the rest for printing of ballots and all the other activities of the CEC.
