Hollywood actor Armande Assante arrived in Sarajevo yesterday so that he could attend the premiere of the short film ‘Vadiona’ by Croatian director Ante Novaković at the 19th Sarajevo Film Festival, and Assante has the leading role in the film, confirmed the spokesperson of SFF Altijana Marić for Fena.
This is a film that is being shown as part of ‘New Currents’, short films that are on the program on 21 August in Kino Meeting Point and 23 August in summer cinema !hej.
Assante was born in 1949 in New York, and he started his career in soap operas that were shown on NBC. He made his first film in 1974, and drew attention to himself in his role in the movie ‘Private Benjamin’.
A mixture of his Irish and Italian genes is the reason for his specific look that earned him the roles of violent young men and mobsters. He portrayed criminal John Gotti in the television series ‘Gotti’, which earned him an Emmy award.
The last big project was the film ‘American Gangster’, in which he starred with Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe.
He participated in several film projects in Macedonia, Turkey, Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria.
Until now, he has earned an Emmy and four nominations for the Golden Globes.
