Research activities on finding deposits of lead, zinc, copper and other metals in the area of Čelebići near Foča will begin in May and last for three years. The research will be conducted by Banja Luka Company “Western Mining”, which received a concession from the RS government that will invest more than 14 million KM, from which local communities would benefit greatly.
“The research will finish no later than March 2016, and will include geophysical surveys and exploratory drilling’’, said the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining of the RS, adding that the concessionaire previously paid a free for exploration of 269.800 KM.
“The concessionaire is obliged to give a preference to contractors from the RS, domestic equipment and supplies’’, said the Ministry, and added that, if the research shows that in the area of Čelebići there are the necessary amounts of ore, a new agreement on its exploration will be prepared.
“From this, the local community and the RS will have a direct benefit from the creation of new jobs, payment of concession fees for use of the mineral resources and many other benefits’’, said the Ministry.
“Western Mining” states that it believes there this project has perspective.
“We are finishing up the technical documentation, and research will begin next month. We will engage domestic firms and citizens, and because of this such projects have the most perspective because it would lead to prosperity of the local community, as well as for the entire RS’’, said the Project Manager and Deputy Director of “Western Mining” Vladimir Rudić.
Citizens of Čelebići say that they see an opportunity for the revival of their community.
