Judging by the number of building permits issued during the crisis with coronavirus, reduced activity in the construction sector can be expected in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the coming period, according to the eKapija business portal.
In the period January-May, 16.6% less approvals were issued than in the same period last year, according to the data of the Agency for Statistics of BiH, reports Indikator.ba
In March 2020, a total of 277 building permits were issued, which is 17.3% less than in March 2019.
In April, the number of issued approvals was 270, 24.4% less than in April 2019. The largest number of issued approvals was in May, 349, but it is still 1.1% lower than in May 2019.
Data from the BiH Agency for Statistics show that in the first five months of this year, the decline in the number of issued building permits was larger in the case of civil engineering structures (21.1%) than in the case of building construction structures (decline of 15.5%).
However, in the abundance of negative numbers, one positive trend is also pleasing – the construction of 19.9% more apartments is planned in the first five months of this year than in the same period last year. The number of approvals issued for the construction of apartments in January 2020 was 522, in February 592, in March 619, in April 985, and in May 812.
