The Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sifet Podzic, received on an official visit the Commander of the NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo, Brigadier General William Edwards on Monday.
General Edwards was interested in the activities of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of BiH (AFBiH) in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the implementation of the Defense Review document.
Minister Podzic and General Edwards also discussed the process of registering promising military assets and the implementation of Ministry of Defense of BiH tasks arising from the Reform Program.
Podzic pointed out that the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of BiH are committed to fulfilling the tasks from the Defense Review, but that the implementation of the Armed Forces BiH Development and Modernization Plan 2017-2027, which follows, depends on the financial resources to be allocated for 16 modernization projects.
Regarding the implementation of the Reform Program, which was adopted by the Presidency of BiH at the end of 2019 and which was subsequently submitted to the headquarters of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in Brussels, Minister Podzic stressed that the BiH Ministry of Defense is actively working on fulfilling the tasks.
He pointed out that it will be equally important to fulfill the tasks that are in front of other ministries within the Council of Ministers of BiH in the Reform Program.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the cooperation so far, and General Edwards promised every possible assistance in further activities of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of BiH, the Public Relations Office of the MOBiH announced.
