The agro-industrial sector of BiH realized the increase of exports of 17.43 % in the first half of the year in comparison to the same period last year, as well as the increase of imports by 8.65 %.
“Export of agro-industry products is increasing in the regional countries, so an increase in the export of this sector to Croatia, Serbia, and Montenegro was recorded, as well as on already-prospective markets such as Turkey and Russia. We are mostly importing meat and its products from the Netherlands and Poland, and imports of fruits from the Netherlands, Italy, and Turkey,” as said from the Sector for the Macroeconomic System of the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH.
The highest export value was recorded with fats and oils of animal and plant origin and the products of their degradation from this sector. Exports amounted to more than 86 million BAM in six months, and it represents an increase of 33.45 % compared to the same period last year, and the export-import coverage amounted to 66 % this year.
The following one by the value of exports from this sector is “fruits, the crust of citrus fruit or melons and watermelons”, where exports amounted to 64.34 million BAM and were increased by 40.66 % in comparison to the same period of the previous year, and the export-import coverage amounted to more than 63 %.
According to the value of exports from this sector, the next item is “milk and milk products, eggs, natural honey, edible products of animal origin” with realized exports of 36,03 million BAM and an increase of 18,29 % in comparison to last year, and the export-import coverage was 53 %.
“Generally, an important priority of the agriculture in BiH in the upcoming period will be the creation of agrarian policies and the introduction of instruments that will allow the dynamic restructuring of the sector of agriculture,” as announced by the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH.
