The city plant for wastewater treatment in Gradačac, which has not been entirely functional for a long time now, will be reconstructed and practically new soon.
Namely, the Municipality of Gradačac implemented activities for repairing of this plant and received a valuable donation of equipment from the Government of the Czech Republic, through the Czech Development Agency. However, the Municipality also committed to direct financial investing of the funds in execution of construction works for the infrastructure of the plant.
Given that the execution of construction works and reconstruction and upgrading of the wastewater treatment plant is estimated to around one billion BAM, the Municpality applied to the public competition of the Fund for Environmental Protection in BiH with this project in early March this year. After the public competition was finished, by the Decision of the Steering Committee of the Fund on the selection of the user of the means of this Fund, the Municipality was granted 300.000 Bam for completion of financial construction for construction works. Thus, conditions were met for using the donation by the Czech Development agency worth around one million EUR.
Several days ago, representatives of the Fund visited the construction site in Goražde and determined that project is being implemented in accordance with the set deadlines and foreseen dynamics.
After the project is implemented, surface waters of the Gradašnica River will be less polluted with industrial and communal wastewaters, thus enabling sustainability and further development of the entire Municipality.
