At the suggestion of the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of the Una-Sana Canton, the Cantonal Court in Bihac extended the custody of the Mayor of Velika Kladusa, Fikret Abdić, for additional two months.
At the hearing held on Wednesday, the acting prosecutor presented the Prosecution’s proposal to extend the custody of the first suspect in the “Network” case for three months due to a well-founded suspicion that he committed several crimes and due to the existence of reasons for detention – circumstances that indicate the danger of escape and special circumstances that justify the fear that the suspect will repeat the crime.
Deciding on the Prosecution’s motion, the Cantonal Court in Bihac concluded that there were reasons for detention, but also that all evidentiary actions that the Prosecution was obliged to take to complete the investigation and make a final prosecutorial decision could be taken within two months. Therefore, the Court extended the suspect’s custody for two months. Pursuant to the decision of the Court, custody may last until 18 November this year or until a new decision of the Court, the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office staed on Friday.
Fikret Abdic was arrested with five other people on suspicion of abusing his position and violating equality in performing economic activity.
Three persons were released after cooperating with the Prosecutor’s Office and confessing to criminal offenses, and it was decided that there were no grounds for proposing detention or prohibitive measures.
