257,256 Tourists Arrivals recorded in Bosnia and Herzegovina

In the period from January – July 2020, there were a total of 257,256 arrivals which represent the decrease by 71.7% and 635,172 overnight stays which is a decrease by 66.2% as compared to the same period of 2019.

The number of domestic tourist nights decreased by 40.5% and the number of foreign tourist nights decreased by 76.5% as compared to the same period of 2019. Domestic tourist’s share of the total number of overnight stays was 50.4% and foreign tourists’ share was 49.6%, according to BiH Agency of Statistics.

Concerning the structure of foreign tourist nights, most of them (73.5%) were realised by tourists from Croatia (31.1%), Serbia (22.1%), Slovenia (5.7%), Turkey (3.8%), Montenegro (3.5%), Germany (3.1%), China (2.2%) and Italy (2.0%).

Regarding the average detention of foreign tourist stays, on the first place comes Iran with an average stay of 12.3 nights, South Africa with 5.5 nights, Kuwait with 4.8 nights and Cyprus with 4.1 nights.

According to the type of accommodation facility, the highest number of nights was recorded in hotels and similar accommodation with a share of 92.0%.
