The arrest of Federal Prime Minister Fadil Novalic has provoked differing interpretations, and pushed to the forefront the legal responsibility for the actions taken by the Federation Government of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Crisis Staff during the pandemic.
The responsibility of the Commander of the Federal Civil Protection Administration (FUCZ) and the Federal Minister Jelka Milicevic remains a legitimate issue, Klix.ba news portal reports.
As a person who is next to Novalic in the government, and a superior to the director of FUCZ, Fahrudin Solak, he was not even questioned, and the two of them were arrested. It was expected that the new situation would try to move to the well-known ground of national skirmishes, so Bakir Izetbegovic, SDA leader and persistent Novalic’s protector at the time of the biggest criticism, treated the latest events as a Prosecution attack on Bosniaks, and Presidency member Sefik Dzaferovic said agencies “did not pay attention to how they treat the deserving prime minister and that everything is probably instrumentalization of prosecutorial-police agencies at the level of BiH for political purposes”.
In this situation, the HDZ party is turning the tables, supporting the work of institutions, the rule of law and saying that everything must have a legal epilogue.
One should not be a great expert and conclude, based on the last twenty years of history, that the situation is different, detained in SIPA of other party affiliations, so that the narrative would be completely opposite – the attack of political Sarajevo on Croats and the like.
One can see the thesis that the HDZ is taking over the government in the Federation, but looking at legal and constitutional solutions, no important decision can still be made without the political will of the SDA, no matter how long Novalic remains behind the bars. It is interesting that without the absent prime minister, the situation in the FBiH Government remains HDZ 6, SDA 5 and SBB 4.
