Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) has exported weapons and ammunition in the amount of 88 million KM (50.125 million U.S. dollars) in the first half of this year, the country’s Foreign Trade Chamber stated in a report on Thursday.
During the period, Egypt was the top buyer, in the amount of 29,548,300 KM (16.803 million U.S. dollars), followed by Saudi Arabia with 20,260,600 KM (11.54 million U.S. dollars).
A total of eight producers, all located in the Federation of BiH, one of the two political entities in BiH, export mainly shooting and hunting ammunition, military weapons, firearms, bombs, grenades and missiles.
The report said that top buyers for BiH weapons and ammunitions are Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Serbia, U.S. and Germany.
Last year, BiH exports of weapons and ammunitions amounted to 205 million KM (116.7 million U.S. dollars), and the largest buyer was Saudi Arabia, to the tune of almost 75 million KM (42.7 million U.S. dollars).
In 2017, exports amounted to 193.8 million KM (110.3 million U.S. dollars), about 22 million KM (12.5 million U.S. dollars) more than in 2016, when the value of exports was 171 million KM (97.4 million U.S. dollars).
Saudi Arabia was the main buyer of BiH weapons in 2017 and Egypt in 2016, Xinhua reports.
