Tourists from 104 Countries Visited Sarajevo in the First Three Months of This Year

sarajevo_mon_amour_by_edamak-d33k0wvIn the first three months of 2013, 42.523 tourists visited Canton Sarajevo. This is a 17.7 percent increase in comparison to the same period last year, said the Spokesperson for the Tourist Agency of Sarajevo Canton Asja Hadžiefendić-Mešić.

There were a total of 85.101 overnight stays, which is an increase by 15.5 percent in comparison to last year.

When it comes to foreign tourists, the most amounts came from Croatia with 31.9 percent, Turkey with 10.4 percent, Serbia with 8.4 percent, Slovenia with 6.2 percent and Austria with 3.7 percent. This is followed by tourists from Germany, Italy, ISA, Kuwait and Montenegro.

The most amount of overnight stays were tourists from Croatia, Turkey, Serbia, Slovenia, Germany, Austria, Italy, USA, Kuwait and Montenegro.

“The average stay in the first three months of this year was two nights. Foreign tourists stayed for 2.2 nights and local tourists for 1.8 nights’’, said Hadžiefendić-Mešić.

For three months in 2013 tourists from 104 countries visited Sarajevo.

Hadžiefendić-Mešić said that 93 percent of tourists stayed in hotels, and only seven percent used other types of accommodation.

The average occupancy rates in Sarajevo Canton in the first three months of this year were 28 percent in terms of room occupancy, or 13.1 percent from the aspect of bed occupancy.

“This is a fantastic announcement for the summer season that began last year in May, and this year maybe even earlier’’, said Hadžiefendić-Mešić.
