The participants of the Peace March ‘’Sarajevo-Nezuk-Potočari’’ set off yesterday morning from Sarajevo on an eight-day long journey more than 240 kilometers in length, in the memory of several thousand people of Srebrenica who, on July 1995, walked almost 100 kilometers to find salvation in Tuzla.
One of the organizers of the march Muhamed Papić said that this is the fourth year that the Union of BH Telecom organizes such a march.
‘’Around 70 participants are heading from Sarajevo this year, but we expect more people to join us’’, said Papić.
On the first day, the 24-kilometers-long hike is planned and they will spend the night in the mountain lodge ‘’Ozren’’, like last year. The route in length of 20 kilometers, at the section Draževići-Krivajevići-Bakići-Olovo to the lodge Ponijerka, is planned for the second day. On the third day, spending the night is planned in the mountain lodge ‘’Javorje’’, and they will spend the fourth night at the Jelovo hill.
Papić emphasizes that they will join the traditional Peace March that sets off from Nezuk on July 8th, and they plan to arrive in Potočari on July 10th.
‘’The journey is difficult, but the desire and intention are stronger than anything. With the Peace March we wish to send the message that this evil never happens to anyone again’’, stressed Papić.
He emphasizes that there are fasting people among the participants of the Peace March, and that they have provided them the food and water for Iftar and Sahur.
The oldest participant of the Peace March is Ismet Keško from Pazarić who iz 70 years old.
‘’The journey from Sarajevo to Potočari does not represent a major problem, because people in 1995 walked this same road under much more difficult conditions. Every citizen of B&H should experience this’’, said Keško.
The youngest participant is Sabina Lišković from Breza, who is 17 years old.
‘’This is the first time I participate in the Peace March and I expect it to be difficult, since I’m fasting. I wish that more young people participate in the Peace march next year’’, she said.
