On the 15th of June 2015, Pope Francis sent a letter of appreciation regarding the apostolic visit to Sarajevo to the President of the Bishops’ Conference of B&H, the Archbishop and Metropolitan of Vrhbosna Cardinal Vinko Puljić, through the Apostolic Nunciature in B&H.
The letter in its entirety:
His Eminence Mr. Cardinal
Vinko Puljić
Archbishop of Vrhbosna
President of the Bishops’ Conference of Bosnia and Herzegovina
On the return from the apostolic visit to Sarajevo, I wish to express my sincere gratitude on welcoming reception and all the effort on the preparations of my visit to you, other bishops, priests, monks and nuns and the lay faithful.
I was truly touched by the strength of your faith, a live hope that you saved despite the tribulations and hardship, as well as the fervent love that inspires your human and Christian walk.
I keep strong and beautiful memories of solemnly Eucharistic celebration, on the meeting with the priests, consecrated men and women, theologians and seminarians, as well as the representatives of other Churches and Ecclesial Communities and other religions. Great joy to me makes the remembrance on the last event, the meeting with the youth.
I promise my prayers for the Church in B&H to continue to walk bravely and persistently, witnessing the Lord’s merciful love.
Pray for me as well. I bless you all from my heart!
Brotherly
Franciscus
