Established on May 24th 1864, the Sarajevo Brewery will this year, among other things, mark 151 years of existence with the opening of the Sarajevo Brewery Museum.
Historians consider the Sarajevo Brewery to be the first industrial plant in B&H, whose establishment initiated the accelerated economic and technological development of our country.
“For us, the Brewery is not only a manufacturing plant, it is a part of BH’s cultural and historical heritage. During different historical periods it played an important role in the economic and social development of our country. We wish to build a cultural and historical object in the city of Sarajevo and in B&H, where another segment of Sarajevo’s and BH’s tradition could be presented. Students from the Department for History at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Sarajevo also participate in this project, and we invite citizens who own items that may be exposed at the Museum to contact us”, said the PR Director of the Sarajevo Brewery Inc. Melisa Sefer-Licin.
The Sarajevo brewery is the only European brewery whose production was continuous during the Ottoman Empire and the Austro-Hungarian monarchy rule, a period during which it was also the largest brewery.
The museum will be located within the complex of the Sarajevo Brewery, one of the most attractive buildings in Sarajevo with an architectural style that is a mix of oriental and classical European design. According to the plans, the Sarajevo Brewery Museum is to be opened for visitors in June.
Citizens who believe they own publications and items that may be exposed at the Museum may contact [email protected], phone number 033 491 118 or Facebook page Sarajevo beer.
