Summer break in the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series is coming to an end, and therefore the new arrival of the world’s best divers in our country.
We will soon be watching the incredible stunts of 14 male divers and 8 female divers at the Old Bridge in Mostar, the sixth station of the most prestigious world cliff diving competition.
After a five-week break from competition in La Rochelle (France) on the 23rd of July, the world’s best divers will be back on the 28th of August in Polignano a Mare (Italy). Two weeks later follows Pembrokshire in Wales, and the global elite will arrive in our country on the 24th of September: the Old Bridge in Mostar will host the sixth stop of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series.
Mostar hosted the first competition of the World Series in our country last August, and after last year’s great success, the city on the Neretva River has been included in the calendar of the championship this season again.
This year’s novelty is that on the Old Bridge will be held the competition for women as well. In the overall men ranking, the first if the five-time champion Gary Hunt (UK), and he is followed by last year’s winner from Mostar, Jonathan Paredes (Mexico). Of course, among the favorites is always the legend of Cliff Diving, Colombian Orlando Duque, a favorite of Mostar.
In the women ranking, the leading is Rhiannan Iffland (Australia), who made a real sensation by winning the first two competitions this season, although she appeared as a contestant with an invitation. The following are Canadians Lysanne Richard and Helena Merten. The current champion Rachelle Simpson started season poorly and she occupies the penultimate, seventh place. However, we can expect really excellent performance of elite divers on the 24th of September in Mostar.
With the beautiful Old Bridge as a stage and great Mostar audience, there is no doubt that this event will be a true spectacle.
