The Production of Chicken in BiH to be increased by 50 %?

Our country has a large potential for the export of meat and meat products. The production of chicken could be increased by 50 % by entering the European market.

A step towards this was made after a visit by the Food and Veterinary Office (FVO) of the European Commission, and they sent a positive report to our authorities a few days ago.

Technical compliance and an official permission for the export of chicken is expected from the EU in the next couple of weeks.

“If BiH passes, there will be unlimited possibilities to obtain the permit. We have 10, maybe even 15 companies, which are able to export, according to Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, Mirko Sarovic.

Therefore, domestic producers of chicken could produce up to 15 tons of chicken and chicken products annually instead of current 10 tons. Consumable eggs could end up on the European market soon as well.

However, red meat probably will not get the permission for the export in the next year. A disease like a cow madness is the main reason for the extra cautiousness of the EU, even though we have not been recorded as the country in which it was registered.
