Photographs of Gavrilo Princip and the Austro-Hungarian archduke Franz Ferdinand have been put on the facade of the Museum of City of Sarajevo with which this Museum reminds of the upcoming marking of the 100th anniversary of Ferdinand’s assassination.
Setting this billboard with photographs is just one part of the project of the Museum of City of Sarajevo which will mark several significant places in that area considering that it is located close to the spot where Gavrilo Princip shot and killed Franz Ferdinand and his pregnant wife Sophie.
Director of the Museum Amra Madžarević told FENA that the billboard is the result of cooperation between the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo within which postgraduate students were tasked to design a way in they will mark this historical event.
The winner of this competition is Amer Mržljak. From one side of the Museum building, a big photograph of Franz Ferdinand was set while on the other a photograph of Gavrilo Princip.
Madžarević reminds that two world wars happened in the 20th century and that the century symbolically ended with a war in Sarajevo.
“Our goal is the say that we will never want to repeat the century of wars like the previous”, she emphasized.
