Results of the census from 2013 have shown that the average age of population in BiH is 39.5 years. The oldest citizens live in Bosansko Grahovo, where the average age is 50 years and over, and the youngest ones are in Bužim, where the average age of population is below 35 years.
Average age of the population from the areas of Central Bosnia, Tomislavgrad, Posušje, Široki Brijeg, a large part of the Tuzla Canton, and Bosanska Krajina, with the exemption of Bužim, amounts to between 35 and 39 years.
Population of the northern Bosnia and the larger part of Herzegovina is between 40 and 44 years old on average.
Bosanski Petrovac, Drvar, Glamoč, Kalinovik, Višegrad, Han Pijesak, Vareš, Pelagićevo and Novo Goražde have the population whose average age is between 45 and 49 years.
The oldest population in BiH is currently in Trnovo and Bosansko Grahovo, with the average age of 50 years and over.
The largest number of citizens of BiH are between 50 and 54 years old (276.545 citizens). According to the census from 2013, there are 28.069 citizens in BiH who are 85 years old or over.
