More than Six Thousand less Pupils this Year in Bosnia and Herzegovina

In the school year 2019/2020, on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, there were 273.795 pupils enrolled in 1.785 schools, which was 6.223 pupils less or 2.2% lower in comparison with the previous year. The share of girls in the total number of pupils was 48.6%.

In the school year 2019/2020, the number of pupils enrolled in the first grade was 29.189 which represented a decrease by 5.2% compared to 2018/2019, according to the country’s Agency for Statistics.

From the total number of pupils, 55.6% were in lower grades (ISCED 1) and 44.4% were in higher grades (ISCED 2) .

In the school year 2019/2020, there were 24.151 teachers included in the education process out of which 17.614 or 72.9% women.
