Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina (MFA B&H ) Zlatko Lagumdžija in separate meetings received the Ambassador of France to B&H Roland Gilles, ambassador of the State of Kuwait to B&H Mohammad Fadel Khalaf Al- H Telaijy and the Director of the USAID Mission in B&H David Barth.
During the meeting, Lagumdžija and Ambassador Gilles discussed the internal political situation in B&H and the relations between the two countries.
Lagumdžija expressed his satisfaction for the good relations and gratitude for the support that France provides to our country on the path towards EU and NATO integration.
Ambassador Gilles pointed out that France is determined to continue to support the process of European integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina and of all countries in the region, as well as the commitment to intensify relations with them.
They also talked about the current events in Syria.
One of the topics discussed was marking of 100 years since the start of the First World War. Ambassador Gilles said that France gives great importance to the celebration of this important anniversary and in close cooperation with the authorities of B&H, they are planning to organize many cultural events, and he informed Lagumdžija for the activities implemented so far and for activities planned for the next period.
Lagumdžija and the Ambassador Gilles agreed in their assessment that the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War, is an excellent opportunity to see if the lessons are learned and at the same time to show commitment for the joint future of the region into the European Union. This would be an opportunity to see whether the symbolic 20th century has really ended and if the 21st has really started.
During the meeting with Ambassador Al- Telaijy, Lagumdžija expressed his satisfaction for the continuous exchange of visits by representatives of B&H and Kuwait and for the relations between the two friendly countries and the expectation that the planned visit of B&H delegation to Kuwait, which should be realized by the end of the year to give new impetus for the economic cooperation between B&H and Kuwait.
On this occasion, it was stressed that the two countries have now signed the base of bilateral agreements in the field of economic cooperation and expressed hope that the bilateral agreements in the field of defense health and sports, which are in the process , will soon be ready for signature.
Lagumdžija and Ambassador Al- Telaijy exchanged information and views on the current situation in the Middle East, especially in Syria, related to recent events. It was emphasized that B&H with special attention follows the development of the situation in this country and because of its own experience of the recent past, it is expressed sympathy for the suffering of the people in Syria, as well as the expectation that it will be soon found a solution that will stop sufferings of the Syrian people.
Lagumdžija, again on this occasion express his gratitude to Ambassador Al- Telaijy for the successful contribution to the development of bilateral relations between B&H and Kuwait and he wished him every success in his future endeavors.
During the meeting Lagumdžija and the director Barth discussed the next steps that needs to be taken in order to sign the relevant documents between B&H and USAID in the field of development, through which will be regulated the further support of USAID to B&H, within the development strategy and cooperation with B&H for the period 2012- 2016.
On this occasion Lagumdžija once again thanked the Government of the United States and USAID for the continuous support provided to B&H.
