Veljko and Srdjan Boskovic from Vlasenica, father and son, constructed the kite and they are planning to fly with it very soon.
Aircraft has a wingspan of 10 meters and a canvas of 20 m2.
Canvas is a high quality one, and it is able to withstand high loads, explained Srdjan Boskovic.
He also added that pipes for aluminum construction of the kite were produced in Vlasenica factory “Alpro”.
“The biggest problem was to find someone to sew canvas for the kite. We offered this to one tailor in Vlasenica, but she did not dare to accept it. However, we found a former employee of Vlasenica ‘Elastik’, who has tested strings at 800 kilograms, and he did it, “said Srdjan.
Father and son Boskovic than found a person who made metal parts.
Father Veljko always had tendencies towards flying, but never managed to accomplish it. This strong 62-year-old was planning to go to school for pilots in the Air Force military high school in Mostar in his younger days, but he did not succeed it.
Genetics, however, did the thing, and it can be said that the kite is “product” of both father and son. They have mutual tendency towards adventurism, action and excitement.
“I had the idea to create a kite for a long period of time. I was always doing something in the garage as a boy, and I made a variety of things, including something that looked like a kite. My father later said to me:”Ok, let’s do it right this time,” says Srdjan.
Aircraft is currently “parked” in one of the abandoned production halls of the former factory “Elastik” and it is waiting for the first launch. The decision where and when the launch will be carried out has not been made yet, but preparations are already taking place.
They need a special suit for the flight, which is yet to be sewn. This is the next stage.
“We will carry out the test flight on the snow, probably here in the ski resort Igrista near Vlasenica, which is ideal for something like that, since there are gentle slopes and the snow is deep.
“We will practice here. Only after a good practice we will go to some serious terrains,” explained Veljko.
Boskovics’ are planning to “boost” the kite with the engine and propeller. This would make their flights longer, and thanks to the power of the engine, they could fly together, side by side.
