The Deputy Chairman of the BiH Council of Ministers and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Zlatko Lagumdžija met yesterday in Sarajevo with the Minister for EU Affairs of Sweden Birgitt Ohlsson.
Lagumdžija spoke to Minister Ohlsson about the current opportunities in our country, with a particular focus on the process of EU and Euro Atlantic integration.
He expressed gratitude for the support of Sweden in the efforts of our country to become a full EU member, and the expectation of positive progress in meeting the requirements of the ‘Road Map’ and the continuation of progress of BIH on the path of European integration.
In the same context, Lagumdžija stressed that for BiH, regional cooperation is very important in the process of EU integration and consequently, active membership and participation in the work of several regional initiatives.
He assessed that there is very successful regional cooperation in the framework of the Nordic Model of cooperation, and that it could be a very good example for our region, as well as the support of Sweden in transferring experiences.
Lagumdžija expressed hope that Sweden would support the request for BiH citizens to be able to cross the border of Croatia with their ID cards after Croatia enters the EU on 1 July 2013. This should be decided on at the next meeting of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and EU Justice.
They also spoke of the opportunities for further improvement in the political and economic relations of BiH and Sweden, announced the BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
