The Italian company Pyrox from Torino intends to invest 150 million EUR in BiH in projects of cogeneration on wooden biomass in BiH. This investment will involve 20 underdeveloped municipalities in FBiH and 20 municipalities in the RS that dispose with wooden waste.
This project was discussed by the Director of the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency in BiH Goran Milinić and associates with Zdravko Aćimović, Director of Alfa Invest – partner of the Italian company Pyrox from Torino for Southeastern Europe.
The Italian Pyrox possesses its own technology for the production of electrical and heat energy on the basis of solid biomass which can be used to heat households, greenhouses and other facilities.
Installation and launching of one plant would provide a job for 25 workers. According to the business plan, every municipality that participates in this project would generate annual income from the sale of electrical and heat energy in the amount of one million EUR.
In addition to investor’s funds, the project will be financially supported by the Uni Credi Bank Italy and the Investment Fund of Ireland. The municipalities would participate in the funding with 10 to 15 percent, and even that share can be further negotiated.
Given that these are projects that refer to renewable energy sources, there is an additional possibility of taking funds from European funds for these purposes.
An agreement was reached to organize a meeting of investors with mayors and heads of economic departments of the 40 municipalities sometime in July this year, where opportunities offered by the investor would be presented, as well as the opportunities of municipalities regarding potentials of the waste from wooden biomass, modalities of investment realization, and liabilities of the both parties.
FIPA will coordinate the meeting and provide necessary services to both investors and municipalities with the aim of enabling faster implementation of investments.
