These days, in the popular night club Sloga, intensive rehearsals and preparations for the premiere of the big theatre-music project are ongoing. It is all dedicated to a performance of the musical “Cabaret 2014” directed by Jasmin Duraković and a big team of young actors and actresses, ballet dancers, vocalists and musicians.
“Cabaret 2014” is a modern dramatization of the text with a plot happening in Berlin before the beginning of the World War II at the time of the Weimar Republic and the ascent of the Nazi politics. The writer Brian arrives to Berlin to write the novel of his life. But he won’t have the time to do it: he meets Sally, a singer and entertainer in the night Kit Kat club. During the play of seduction and jealousy love happens between them but they soon fall into a love triangle with the Count Lotar. There are soon more and more aggressive due to Nazi wanting to take control over the city…
“Cabaret 2014” is made after the motifs of a film with the same title. We wish to create a musical in accordance with the genre standards but to actualize at the same time a text speaking about fascism being born in the days and years of crisis. The time we are living at has much resemblance with Berlin in 1929 and that is why “Cabaret” is educative and contemporary even today. So, our goal is to make an excellent scene event in town, a great show and spectacle but also to warn about the sicknesses of the society we are living in.” – said Jasmin Duraković about the show.
At the big casting organized especially for this project, the young singer and art historian Amina Hamzić got the role of Sally Bowles while other important roles in this show are played by Emir Krivalić, Armin Omerović, Staša Dukić, Vanesa Glođo, Edhem Husić, Jasmin Bašić, Zlatan Školjić and Selma Šrbo Arnautalić.
The scenography was made by Osman Arslanagić, costumes by Lana Lončarević, music theme arrangements by Nenad Tošić while the vocalist were trained by Alma Ferović. The choreographer and the producer of the project is Nađa Pušilo. The poster for the show was made by Sanja Kulenović while the photographer of the show is Velija Hasanbegović.
The project was realized in independent production and one part of the participants in the project are volunteers.
