Members of the EU Integration Committees of the BiH Parliamentary assembly, the RS National Assembly, the FBIH Parliament, and the Brčko District Assembly will participate in a study visit to Brussels between 27 and 29 May, under the auspices of the European Union Special Representative Office’s “Parliament for Europe” initiative.
EUD/EUSR spokesperson Andy McGuffie said: “The working visit will give BiH parliamentarians the opportunity to establish stronger cooperation with the European Commission and with their counterparts in the European Parliament. The parliamentarians will explore strategies for removing obstacles to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s EU accession process. They will focus on the key role of the parliamentary assemblies in getting the country back onto the European road.”
BiH parliamentarians will hold meetings with EU External Action Service Head of Western Balkans Division Jonas Jonsson, with the European Commission’s Director-General for Enlargement Stefano Sannino, with members of the Western Balkans Working Group of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament, and with BiH Ambassador to the EU Igor Davidović.
The visit is part of the fifth cycle of the “Parliament for Europe” initiative, which brings parliamentarians from Bosnia and Herzegovina together with EU officials and parliamentarians and officials from EU Member States and neighbouring countries to identify ways of taking the BiH accession process forward including in the legislative process.
