After several delays, the representatives of the successor states of former Yugoslavia should finally discuss the division of part of the objects that belonged to the diplomatic-consular network of the former SFRY.
According to the head of the delegation of BiH, Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Adnan Hadzikapetanovic, one of the main topics will be the process of selling five expensive real estates, including two in New York and one in Tokyo, Bonn, and Bern. The total estimated value of these real estates is 145 million USD, and BiH should get 22 million BAM from their sale.
They will also discuss the process of selling four objects in Africa and ten in Latin America. When it comes to objects in Latin America, none of the countries has shown interest in them so far and, as they previously agreed, all of these objects will be sold and the money from the sale will be divided in accordance with previously determined percentages.
One of the topics that will be discussed is the division of objects in the diplomatic complexes in Brasilia in Brazil, New Delhi in India and Moscow in Russia.
“These are so large complexes that each of them can be divided among the successor states. For example, we would like to get one of the smaller houses within the complex in Brazil, which occupies about 300 square meters,” said Hadzikapetanovic.
So far, from a total of 123 of real estate in the world, which were owned by the SFRY, 72 of them were divided among the successor states, a sale for five of them was agreed, and they should decide on the fate of remaining 48 objects in the future period. All of the objects, for which none of the successor states shows interest, will be sold and the money will be divided in accordance with predetermined percentages. According to this, BiH will receive a total of 15 %.
So far, when it comes to real estate within the succession of assets of former Yugoslavia, BiH got the embassy buildings in London, Ottawa, Oslo, Madrid and Ankara, residences in Vienna and Budapest, apartment in Milan and a house in Washington.
