Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlic Radman spoke by phone with the Archbishop of Vrhbosna, Cardinal Vinko Puljic, and expressed his support for serving Holy Mass in the Sarajevo Cathedral as part of marking of the 75th anniversary of the Bleiburg tragedy.
A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) states that the mass is planned for May 16 as part of the program to mark the 75th anniversary of the Bleiburg tragedy and the Way of the Cross of the Croatian people.
Cardinal Puljic was jointly elected by the bishops of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina to chair the Eucharist for the Bleiburg victims.
Despite the coronavirus pandemic, Cardinal Puljic and Minister Grlic Radman expressed satisfaction that the culture of remembrance will continue this year at Bleiburg, Sarajevo and Zagreb, where the state leadership will lay a wreath and light a candle with a prayer at the Mirogoj cemetery.
The interlocutors, he added, stressed the importance of reverently paying homage to the deceased and preserving the memory of innocent and tortured victims killed without trial.
