On June 27th, 2019, Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina Marina Pendes headed a delegation of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of BiH at the NATO Ministerial Meeting in the form of “Determined Support” held in Brussels.
The meeting was attended by defense ministers from NATO member states and partner countries whose members participated in the peace support mission in Afghanistan. Participants discussed about the political and military situation in Afghanistan, as well as the challenges that may be faced in the further execution of this mission.
Minister Pendes emphasized in her address the commitment of BiH to support the establishment of peace and long-term stability in Afghanistan, as well as the members of the Armed Forces of BiH continue to participate in the “Determined Support” mission. She stressed in particular that Bosnia and Herzegovina, through its participation in stability-planning projects and steady progress in all other areas, shows a firm commitment to continue the journey towards Euro-Atlantic integration.
At the margins of the meeting, Minister Pendes met with NATO Deputy Secretary-General Rose Gottemoeller, Spain’s Defense Minister Margarit Robles, Defense Minister Damir Krsticevic, Defense Minister Hungary Tibor Benkom and Italian Defense Minister Elisabett Trento.
During the visit to the NATO Headquarters in Brussels, Minister Pendes visited the BiH Mission in NATO, where he had a shorter reception and a meeting with BiH Ambassador to NATO Almir Dzuvo. There was also a shorter working meeting with members of the Military section of the BiH Mission during which Brigadier Cajic informed Minister Pendes about the most important activities of the Military Part of the BiH Mission in NATO.
