Exports from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) amounted to 8.95 billion BAM (5.39 billion U.S. dollars) in the first nine months, registering a year-on-year increase of 17.9 percent, local media reported Sunday.
According to data from BiH Agency for Statistics, imports during the same period reached 13.306 billion BAM up 12.6 percent year-on-year.
Exports to EU countries amounted to 5.817 billion BAM from January to October this year, which is for 16.4 percent more year-on-year, while imports from EU totalled 8.136 billion BAM, up 10.9 percent year-on-year. Coverage of exports to EU countries amounted to 71.5 percent.
The European Union (EU) is the most important trade partner for BiH.
For the first time this year, exports from BiH in September amounted to 1.014 billion BAM (687 million U.S. dollars).
Exports to CEFTA countries amounted to 1.307 billion BAM, which is up 32.0 percent year-on-year, while imports amounted to 1.692 billion BAM, up by 11.9 percent.
The coverage of export by import amounted to 60.8 percent, while the foreign trade deficit amounted to 5.211 billion BAM, official data revealed. (1 U.S. dollar=1.66 convertible mark (KM))
