[wzslider autoplay=”true”]According to the number of paid tickets, more than 50,000 people visited National Park “Una” in 2015, which makes it the most successful year so far,” said director of this park Amarildo Mulic.
National Park “Una” was born out of the need to protect one of the most beautiful and the most colorful landscapes of Europe. It was founded less than five years ago, and today is recognized throughout the whole Europe.
80 % of the park is free for the movement of visitors, and Mulic estimates that between 80,000 and 90,000 people visited the NP “Una” in 2015, which is a serious reference when we are talking about the development of tourism. He added that the numbers of visits to the park were increased by 43 % compared to 2014.
On the basis of last year’s results, Mulic expects 2016 to be even better, if weather conditions allow it.
“The area is rich in heritage of archaeological sites and historic monuments, the special position of the area on the transit route to the sea brought this place in the past under the influence of many cultures, from where the rich archaeological sites, the remains of medieval fortresses and sacral objects of different faiths and cultures originate,” explained Mulic.
Initiatives, the first for UNESCO nomination, and later for proclamation of protected area largely arose from the initiative of local communities of this area. This special relationship between Una and locals is one of the important characteristics that are important for the preservation and protection of this space.
