With the exhibition “Large format” which will be open today at the gallery “Novi hram” will start this year’s Balet Fest Sarajevo, which will bring the holiday of ballet back to the BH scene.
The essence of this exhibition is presentation of the art of ballet through poster and scenic photography, at which will be presented dozens of photos of ballet artists, guests of the Festival in the past six years, with the signature of Fuad Foco, and posters by graphic designer Emir Operta that were created based on Foco’s photos.
Director of Balet Fest Sarajevo, Edina Papo, reminded that the new edition of the festival, as the youngest festival in Sarajevo, brings a great responsibility, since it is not easy to organize the arrival of all the artists in the city and their preparation for the performances before the local audience.
“The art of ballet is an intimate and miraculous, which is showed on these photos,” she said.
To do visuals for anything, says Papo, is a very demanding job today, because it is necessary to send the desired message and attract people’s attention. She emphasized that this time Operta decided for bright contrast of ballerina and background on the poster, while the focus is on the professional sculpted body of ballerina.
Foco briefly expressed his satisfaction to follow this year’s Balet Festival through the camera lens, and noted that he will try to re-create high-quality images, while Operta also stated that he is honored to be involved in this festival and concluded that graphic designers today are forced to do a lot of commercial things because of the general situation in culture.
“The aim is that the poster of Balet Fest, besides sending basic message, remains engraved in the memory of people in one place and time with its visual identity,” said Operta.
The first performance of this year’s festival is scheduled for the 26th of September, while on the 28th of September will be staged Gala Balet Fest with a performance of champions and ballet soloists from Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Macedonia and BiH.
