Yesterday, the Committee for interreligious cooperation Banja Luka organized the event where twenty high school students visited religious objects of four religious communities in that city. The main aim of this visit is to contribute to mutual trust, appreciation and tolerance.
They learned about history, tradition and activity of the Temple of Christ the Saviour, the Catholic Parish Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Ferhadija Mosque and Synagogue in the Jewish cultural center “Arie Livne” in Banja Luka.
The member of Secretariat of Inter-religious Council in BiH, Hrvoje Vranjes, noted that this type of activities is organized for the first time in Banja Luka.
He also recalled that the number of attracts on religious buildings has been decreased, which is also a result of insisting of the Interreligious Council on sending strong messages of condemnation of such behaviour and the support to mutual coexistence and understanding.
Ismir Poturovic, secretary of the Islamic Community in Banja Luka of Banja Luka, noted that this project is aimed at connecting young people in Banja Luka.
Secretary of the Committee for Interreligious Co-operation Stela Pavlovic said that most of them had never visited religious objects of other religious communities.
From the Council for Interreligious Co-operation, whose members are representatives of four traditional religious communities that are operating in Banja Luka, expressed their hope that new joint projects will follow soon.
