On June 28th the Vienna Philharmonic will hold a concert in the Sarajevo City Hall. The concert will mark the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War and the Sarajevo assassination of the Austro-Hungarian Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie. The audience in Vienna will be able to watch the concert as well.
Visitors of the “Donauinselfest” Festival on Danube Island in Vienna will have the opportunity to follow the show in live, and according to director of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra Clemens Hellsberga, their desire is to send the message of peace to the world. The Vienna Philharmonic,will be performed in Sarajevo on June 28th under the baton of Franz Welser-Möst.
On the repertoire of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, which will performed in the renovated Town Hall in Sarajevo, the works of Joseph Haydn, Franz Schubert, Alban Berg, Johannes Brahms and Maurice Ravel, will be played. The concert of the world famous Philharmonic Orchestra will perform the anthem of Europe – music from the last paragraph 9th Symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven and “Palme Peace” – Joseph Strauss waltz.
105 members of the Vienna Philharmonic will perform in Sarajevo.
