National Geographic selected 20 photographs which made it to the finale of the contest for the best photograph of nature. The competition is almost over and the judges have the difficult task of choosing the winners.
This year photographers from all around the world competed in the categories landscape, environmental issues, and animal portraits.
“In the competition categories this year, photographers had the opportunity to show the complexity and beauty of the world around us,” said Sarah Polger, senior producer at National Geographic and competition director.
Photographers are competing for the main prize – ten-day vacation for two on the Galapagos Island within National Geographic’s expedition and an incredible opportunity for two 15-minute portfolios.
