On today’s session, the Assembly of Tuzla Canton adopted the Law on Salaries and Allowances of elected officials, executive officeholders and advisors in the executive and legislative authorities, which should ensure savings amounting from 600 to 700 thousand BAM.
To recall, this law will reduce incomes of cantonal deputies and directors of public companies and institutions. Tuzla Canton should save almost 150,000 BAM only on the parliamentary incomes.
After a short discussion, suggestions and comments by deputies, the Law was adopted with 28 votes for and one abstained. Deputies from both position and opposition voted for this Law.
Cantonal Prime Minister Bego Gutić, proponent of the Law, addressed the attendees and talked about the savings that this law will ensure. Gutić said that he expected this law to get the support needed.
When it comes to deputies in the Assembly, under the new legislation the professionals will have a salary of 1.140 BAM, and a lump sum in the same amount. Thus, a total of 2,280 BAM, plus past performance and meal allowances. Their counterparts without professional status, will have only a lump sum amounting to 1,500 BAM. This law abolishes the payment of commissions, collegiums, sessions, etc and it also introduced penalty clauses.
Moreover, this law regulates salaries of directors and other managers in public enterprises, public institutions and other public services, which cannot exceed the net amount of wages that is determined to the relevant minister (2574 BAM).
Salary of director of the UCC and the dean of the University of Tuzla will not exceed the amount of the salary of the Prime Minister of Tuzla Canton, which amounts to 3.200 BAM.
