Bisera Turkovic, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) talked yesterday with Jean-Yves Le Drian, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of France. The focus of the telephone conversation was European integration and the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
Turkovic emphasized that the epidemiological situation in BiH is stable now and that BiH is still expecting a more significant delivery of the ordered vaccines.
Also, she pointed out that there are political forces in BiH that are actively working on reforms, including implementing the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights and fulfilling the conditions for progress towards the European Union (EU), so despite negative rhetoric, most citizens still strongly support the European path and the path to NATO.
She informed her French colleague that only BiH institutions are authorized to express official views and that everything else is a view without legitimacy on the international political scene.
Minister Le Drian pointed out that the Republic of France strongly supports the territorial integrity of BiH and believes that there will be no closure of the Office of the High Representative (OHR) before all the preconditions are met.
They also discussed French assistance when it comes to strengthening the prevention and fight against corruption and organized crime, as well as the signing of the Agreement on the French Development Agency (AFD), which will contribute to improving French engagement and assistance to BiH.
