The beginning of the trial of Živko Budimir, the President of the FBiH who is charged with illegal possession of a weapon, was postponed today in the municipal court in Sarajevo due to health problems of the accused that will seek medical treatment in Zagreb.
A new hearing for the trial in this case has been scheduled for 20 September.
As the court informed Budimir’s lawyer, Ragib Hadžić, his client has certain preexisting health problems that are perhaps related to ‘war memories’.
Regarding this, lawyer Hadžić said that the court would be provided with relevant medical records.
Judge Sedin Idrizović accepted the explanation of the defense, since Budimir has until now responded to the requests of the court, and ordered his lawyer to submit evidence by 3 September of medical intervention for the accused and its necessity.
According to the indictment of the Cantonal Court of Sarajevo, members of the State Agency for Protection and Investigation (SIPA) found a gun with seven bullets during a raid on the President’s office on 26 April, for which there is no permit.
