A two-day training started yesterday in the FB&H Hydrometeorological Institute for specialized training in the use of calibration sets to verify the accuracy and precision of the measurements performed at meteorological stations.
So far in B&H, there was no possibility to verify the accuracy of measuring meteorological instruments in accordance with standards of the World Meteorological Institute (WMO). The same situation applies in other Western Balkan countries (Montenegro, Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia).
Therefore, the World Meteorological Institute (WMO) and the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR), in the framework of the project ‘Building Resilience to Disasters in the Western Balkans and Turkey’ (IPA 2012/290-552) ensured purchase of two calibration sets to check meteorological instruments, of which one is donated to B&H.
This set would circulate between the entity institutes, the FB&H and the RS Hydrometeorological Insitutes, and if needed it would be occasionally provided to Montenegro.
Instructor for the training is Drago Groselj from the Regional Center for Instruments from Ljubljana, and the training will include 10 representatives from both Institutes.
Upon completion of the training and field exercises at meteorological station Ivan Sedlo, participants will receive a training certificate.
