Organized by the Serbian Educational and Cultural Society (SECS) “Prosvjeta” at the National Theater in Sarajevo, the eighth traditional Christmas Concert began last night.
As it was scheduled by the program, the beginning of the concert was marked by the spiritual music performed by the Serbian Singing Society “Sloga” , which this year celebrates the 130th anniversary of its existence, after which there was a universal spiritual song composed by Fr. Slavko Topic, the Guardian of the Franciscan Monastery “Sveti Ante”, and it was completed by the Russian romances.
The baritone and the champion of the Sarajevo opera, Marko Kalajanovic, and the young composer Toni Toplan, who finished the orchestration for Russian romances, and the String Orchestra SECS “Prosvjeta” were responsible for one part of the concert.
Besides the spiritual part, the performance of the ecumenical composition by soprano Katarina Kikic was announced.
Member of SECS “Prosvjeta” Steering Committee, Slobodan Soja, earlier stated that this year’s concept of the concert is symbolic, and that the wish of Sarajevo Serbs is to give a great cultural event to their beloved city, through culture and spirituality in the beginning of 2018.
From SECS “Prosvjeta”, they said that they would like to make this calendar year special with the programs they plan to organize, and the eight Christmas Concert is an introduction to it.
