The Association ‘’Bosnian Youth of Chicago’’, which was founded in 2013 to connect young compatriots through a variety of activities, has successfully implemented a humanitarian action of donating canned food for Thanksgiving Day, a North American holiday celebrated every fourth Thursday in November.
They have carried out the action ‘’Thanksgiving Food Drive’’ in collaboration with the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) – the main organization of Muslims in this continent, the Halal Relief program, and senator Ram Villivalam.
As it is noticed in the photos, significant amounts of canned food were collected.
Besides them, action for this holiday was also organized by the Sabah Islamic and Cultural Center of Chicago. The organization’s Facebook profile states that young volunteers at the center served neighbors who were not able to share the holiday lunch with their family.
‘’Our youth are glad to help in serving Thanksgiving lunch to those neighbors who will not be privileged to have it in a family setting this year,’’ according to their Facebook profile.
Earlier, this organization announced that they were distributing holiday packets to neighbors of poorer wealth on November 24th, together with Lutherans.
‘’On Sunday, November 24th, together with the Lutherans, we have distributed this year’s holiday gifts to our neighbors of poorer wealth. Gift packets contained: 5-6 pounds chicken, 5 pounds potatoes, stuffing, canned vegetables, corn bread, cakes, and many other things,’’ according to their Facebook post,’’ mojabih.oslobodjenje.ba portal reports.
