Monumental buildings of Sarajevo, the capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina, were an inspiration for young architect Tarik Musakadic for the design of the unique and authentic jewelry called SAMUSA.
Making jewelry is not unknown craft in his family. Musakadic family is nurturing the art of old crafts for almost 100 years, and Tarik is trying to give some modern spirit to the long established family tradition.
He transforms the architectural sketches into authentic jewelry pieces, through which he wants to preserve some old crafts and little-known and untold stories about Sarajevo.
Today Tarik designs earrings, rings, bracelets and pendants with motifs of crucial historical objects, a map of Sarajevo, elements of historical buildings, rosettes from the cathedral, motifs of stecak tombstones, Bosnian rugs etc.
He finds his inspiration in everything with a touch of history, tradition, and architecture, which is the primary interest of young Tarik. He often finds inspiration in his daily environment and contacts with the historians from BiH, where he also finds some untold stories about Sarajevo.
In all of his models, you will recognize the architectural touch in design, with sharp and simple lines.
Tarik says that he cannot pick a favorite model as he could not favor any of his three children. He approaches each of them with the same love and every piece of jewelry has its own story. Because Sarajevo is that, a story on itself, the love and inspiration.
