Yesterday, in the crowded hall of the Meeting Point in Sarajevo, the Swiss Cooperation Strategy in BiH for the period 2017-2020 was presented.
The government of Switzerland will invest 74 million CHF (135 million BAM) in BiH in the next four years, through a program of cooperation.
Ambassador of Switzerland in BiH Andrea Rauber Saxer noted that the creation of the strategy lasted for several months during which they precisely defined its goals and expected results. The document was confirmed by parliament in Bern as well, and it represents the continuation of the Swiss program of cooperation that was achieved during the previous 20 years.
The strategy will include three key areas: employment, public health and public administration, through projects that are aimed to benefit citizens.
“We want to be present in sectors where we have something to offer, where we can show what we know,” she said. First of all, it is the sector of employment, especially of young people, due to the fact that Switzerland represents the country with the lowest unemployment rate.
It is expected that more than 4,000 self-sustaining workplaces will be opened through the project of development strategy.
The second level of help is work with local communities. Municipalities have a great responsibility towards their citizens, they are leaders of progress. Over 50 municipalities will be covered by the development strategy which will contribute to a better life of about 150,000 citizens.
